EMERALDTM
VOC Compliant, Non-Yellowing, High Solids
Concrete Cure and Seal
Description
EMERALD is a VOC compliant, acrylic curing and sealing compound. This product provides a quality cure to freshly
placed exterior concrete while assuring total resistance to yellowing from ultraviolet exposure. EMERALD helps
control hydration of cement by preventing rapid loss of moisture through the surface of newly placed concrete.
EMERALD can also be used on existing concrete, giving surfaces a glossy appearance and a protective seal.
Primary Applications
• Curing and sealing concrete where a non-yellowing, glossy finish is desired
• Stamped, Decorative Concrete
• Brick /Pavers/Stone/Masonry
• Driveways/ sidewalks
• Patio
Features/Benefits
• Excellent cure and durable seal
• Non-yellowing formula • Perfect for exterior projects
• Subsequent flooring can be applied directly over product (see Precautions/Limitations section)

CURING & SEALING EMERALD MASTER FORMAT 03 39 23
MASTER FORMAT 03 39 23
Directions for Use
Surface Preparation, Existing Concrete: Surface must be structurally sound, clean, free of dust, dirt, laitance, efflorescence,
curing compound, paint, oil, grease and other contaminants. Prior to application, surface defects, voids, cracks and joints
should be properly treated and repaired. Concrete may be damp, but must be free of standing water. If acid has been used
to clean the surface, neutralize the surface prior to using EMERALD. Always test surface pH to insure all acid has been
neutralized prior to application.
Freshly Placed Concrete: Horizontal surfaces must be finished and show no surface “sheen” from bleed water.
Mixing: EMERALD requires no mixing.
Application: Apply EMERALD in an even, continuous film by sprayer, short-napped roller or brush. Use an applicator pad
or roller to pick up puddles or excess material from the surface. For a more uniform appearance, especially over decorative
concrete, it is recommended to back-roll the product after spraying. A second coat may be applied depending upon the
desired surface gloss. If the delay between the first and second coat results in the contamination of the surface, the surface
must be thoroughly cleaned before the application of the second coat. When using EMERALD to seal existing concrete, a
second coat may be applied as soon as the first coat has dried 2 to 4 hours at 75°F (24°C). The surface porosity and the
amount of surface sheen desired determines the selection of material for the second coat. The sealed concrete can usually
be opened to foot traffic in 8 to 12 hours, with maximum sealer durability developed within 7 to 10 days. A light
maintenance coat is recommended every 1 to 2 years depending on the concrete’s exposure to traffic, abrasion,
weathering, etc.
ADD A SLIP-RESISTANT AGGREGATE TO EMERALD TO HELP PREVENT SLIP AND FALL ACCIDENTS.

Clean-Up
Clean up tools and equipment, overspray and drips with ACETONE OR EMERALD SOLVENT. Dried product is very difficult to remove.
Precautions/Limitations
• EMERALD meets the tile adhesive bond requirements of ASTM 1315. However, an on-site test is recommended to
verify that the specific adhesives to be used on a project will adequately bond to EMERALD.
• Store between 50°F - 90°F (10°C - 32°C).
• Application temperature range is 45° - 95°F (7° - 35°C).
• Do not apply EMERALD to frost-filled or frozen surfaces.
• High humidity conditions and very hot/windy days will adversely affect drying and performance of this product.
• Do not apply if rain or heavy fog is likely within 1 to 2 hours after application.
• Before applying EMERALD to the entire surface, test a small area to verify appearance on the substrate.
• Do not use on glazed surfaces or over ceramic tile.
• The sealer will darken the surface and highlight surface imperfections.
• In all cases, consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
